Current TV Obsession: Suits

Let me just talk about the most fashionable TV series there is now, Suits. Suits is about a group of lawyers working at this law firm. Initially the conflict in the series was about how Harvey Specter, the best closer in NYC, played by the very effective Gabriel Macht (of “The Spirit” and “Whiteout” fame) decided to hire Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams from Pretty Little Liars) as an associate problem is he’s not even a lawyer.  Mike has what they call an eidetic memory (super photographic memory in other words), has the knack for remembering everything he reads. Harvey becomes kind of like a big brother figure to Mike, I love it when they trade quotes from movies and finish each other’s sentences. The partnership is seamless; it’s like the perfect marriage of bitter tea with something sweet like an oreo cheesecake (hehe!). The series is on its 3rd season now and the plot has expanded from this conflict.

Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson

Gina Torres plays the powerful Jessica Pearson, the managing partner of the law firm.  I have always admired her from her brief stint in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon always chooses to cast her on his projects. She spends the first 2 seasons fending off attacks to her law firm from a former senior partner, season 3 starts off with a merger with an influential London based law firm.

I think the series has the best cast there is now on TV, they also have the best costume people (Jolie Andreatta is the show’s wardrobe designer). I’m obsessed with the suits that Harvey wears in this show; I heard the suits are from Tom Ford. Notice the broad lapels of his jacket, he comes off as very powerful and self-assured, he has that what Harvey wants Harvey gets thing going on. This is contrasted by the skinny tie wearing Mike who exudes a more youthful sartorial view. I know you can only get so far as wearing skinny ties on a corporate setting but he gets away with it. The messenger bag and bike represents the millenials take on things. Heck, if I weren’t living in Manila I’d probably ride a bike to work too.

Dapper Lawyers Harvey and Mike

Not to be outdone are the women, I love Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) they have this constant friendly and witty banter between themselves. Rachel is a paralegal in the law firm who gets involved with Mike, may kilig factor talaga for me lalo na when they first said their I love you’s. She’s effortless, you know that her character comes from a money’d upbringing and that her things and her clothes are all designer albeit discreet. Donna is Harvey’s secretary who came with him when he made the move from the DA office to what was then called Pearson Hardman. She also has that Harvey thing going on she’s a confident woman who knows that she’s the best at her job.

Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty

I cannot get enough of this show! Anyhoo I found this blog site that chronicles the designers they wear on the show, even Katrina gets some fun. Too bad there’s nothing like this for the boys to track what designer they are wearing.

In the Philippines, Suits can be seen in Jack TV
